Jim Kennard will take you on a 50-year journey of shipwreck exploration, drawing from his book that chronicles some of the most important shipwrecks discovered in Lake Ontario by his teams and fellow explorers. The presentation features underwater images and video of these sunken historic treasures.
Jim has been diving and exploring northeastern lakes since 1970, discovering more than 200 shipwrecks across the Great Lakes, Lake Champlain, the Finger Lakes, and the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. Using his electrical engineering background, he built the side scan sonar system that located many of these wrecks. Kennard and his teams have been featured in publications including National Geographic, Sea Technology, Inland Seas, and Wreck Diving, and have appeared on the Discovery Channel, CBC, BBC, Fox News, and National Geographic’s “Drain the Oceans” series. In addition to searching for elusive shipwrecks, he is an avid hiker and amateur radio operator.
