The Town of Avon will celebrate the completion of the Opera Block and Town Hall on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 23 Genesee Street, Avon, NY. There will be a brief opening ceremony at 1:00 pm. Afterwards, everyone is welcome to walk through the building to see the beautiful restoration of the facility.
Performances at 2:30 will include Trinidadian steel drum music by Panloco, singing by the Avon High School Senior Choir, and Exit 8, SUNY Geneseo's acapella group. Students from Avon's Dance Emporium will perform, as well as dance companies Commotion Dance Theater, MahataMmoho Collective, and Devi Bollywood.
Chris Quinlan, Avon Village Treasurer, says “It is so great to be able to celebrate the completion of the Opera Block and Town Hall. Not only is the building fully restored but the Opera House itself will come back to life with free performances of music and dance!”
Performances are made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of The Office of the Governor, the New York State Legislature and administered by the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts.
All events are free and open to the public. Program subject to change.
