The Colorful Story of Cabazon's Brief Incorporation
Historian Steve Lech will explore the very contentious time and colorful personalities involved when Cabazon decided to incorporate. In the 1950s, gambling interests persuaded the residents of Cabazon to make the tiny hamlet a city, which would allow casinos in city limits. Despite some good reasons and some bad, Cabazon's cityhood did not work out, and in 1972, it returned to the County of Riverside. The talk starts at 6:30 p.m., and it is free and all are welcome.
