Williamsburg-based Cantori Choral Ensemble presents its spring concert, Bound for the Promised Land, in historic St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. The theme for the concert is hope in the future and the afterlife, and will include English cathedral anthems, folk songs and spirituals. Composers whose works will be sung include Stanford, Bainton, Brahms, Rutter, Gawthrop, Chilcott, and Moses Hogan. The 12-voice auditioned semi-professional choral ensemble is under the direction of Agnes French and has received accolades for its purity of tone, blend and balance, sensitive singing, and musicality. Several pieces on the program will be sung a cappella. Others will be accompanied by Rebecca Davy on organ and piano, and Mei-Li Beane on violin and viola. A reception hosted by the church will follow the concert. Admission is by donation to Cantori. On-street parking is available for several blocks around the church. More information about Cantori may be found on our web site: www.cantoriwilliamsburg.org.
