The State of the Union Address is delivered by the President of the United States annually to a joint session of Congress, with a unique pressure existing for those who were presidents in times of war. Join Virginia War Memorial Director of Education, Jim Triesler, as he examines the addresses given by Presidents Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt during World War One and World War Two.  Both presidents strove to keep us out of wars which would eventually require the service of a reluctant American people.  Both men dedicated their lives to guiding the world toward the path of peace.
