Join us on Friday, March 17th from 5 - 8pm for the opening reception of Family Milk in the Pink Gallery, featuring local artist Chris Milk.
The Family Milk is an ongoing collaboration between Richmond artist, Chris Milk, and his family.
Chris, Jenny Beth, and Lucia draw inspiration from their little yellow house named Alice, wild garden, wonderful neighbors, and three marvelous cats. We transform salvaged wood, second-hand clothes, and found treasures to create a magical world where everything is beautiful and everyone is invited.
Chris Milk Hulburt is a self-taught artist working and living with his family in Richmond, Virginia. His bright, evocative work draws on familiar geography, flora, and fauna to convey the unsung magic of small moments and unregistered details. He works primarily in paint on wood, but also makes large scale public commissions, textiles, and sculpture. His work has been shown in galleries in New York, Providence, Virginia, and North Carolina, but is largely done on commission for private collections. Musical and iconic, his paintings draw on the stylistic traditions of folk and naive art, imbued with tender humor and haunting poignancy.
Family Milk will open Friday, March 17th at Quirk Gallery Richmond located at 207 W Broad St. This show will be on view and on our exhibitions page through May 6th, 2023. The reception event is open to the public and free to attend.
