Evolution of a Black Girl: From the Slave House to the White House One Woman Show at the Hippodrome
Celebrate Women's History Month and the 10 year run of award winning one woman show, Evolution of a Black Girl: From the Slave House to the White House which was co-sponsored by Academy Award Winner Louis Gossett Jr. The show chronicles a history of the African American woman from 1619- present day through a riveting 12 character portrayal to include Maggie Walker, Michelle Obama, Madam CJ, Coretta Scott King and more. Evolution of a Black Girl began in Richmond 10 years ago at a local church and has now toured all over the country making history and honoring history makers and encouraging audiences every step of the way. Actress Morgan McCoy, known for her supporting role in the Harriet film, is excited to bring the show back to the Richmond stage for this momentous occasion and celebration. The show will also feature performances from renowned jazz band, FORTRESSES, along with other guest artists. Doors open at 3:00pm and show starts at 4:30 pm. Tickets are $35 The historic Hippodrome Theater will have Food available for purchase from 3-4.
