8th Annual 2nd Best Comedy Fest

Returning for its eighth year, The Coalition Theater presents the 2nd Best Comedy Fest, showcasing more than a hundred stand-up, improv, and sketch comedy performers from across the country - including headliner acts from Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York City as well as local performers from Richmond and the greater Virginia region. The Fest runs for three nights, June 5 through June 7, 2025, across four venues in Richmond’s Historic Downtown Arts District. Headlining performances include: Angel Bones: A 2nd Best Fest fan favorite, this improv super group combines the very best of Chicago improv – veteran performers who have perfected the art of present, patient, and honest improv mixed with absurd whimsy. Angel Bones is made up of performers from iO, The Second City, and UCB. Angel Bones will perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 7 at the Coalition Theater. Miss Golightly: Los Angeles-based Miss Golightly is a fantastic group of improvisers, actors, and writers, featuring Geo Lee, Tony Garbanzos, Terry Huang, and Jed Alcantara. Miss Golightly will perform at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 6 and again at 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, at the Coalition Theater. Chloe Radcliffe: Hailing from the Midwest and proud of it, stand-up and actor Chloe Radcliffe recently led the New York Times’ list of recommended shows at the 2024 New York Comedy Festival. She was named one of Deadline’s 15 Comedians Ready To Break Out In 2025, and one of Vulture’s Comedians You Should And Will Know. Chloe will perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 7 at Gallery5. Kornfeld & Andrews: Seasoned performers Rick Andrews and Louis Kornfeld join us from New York, where they perform regularly at the Magnet Theater. With a patient, nuanced style, they create a textured world filled with characters that will make you laugh and move you all at the same time. Kornfeld & Andrews will perform at the Coalition Theater at 7 p.m, on Friday, June 7 and at Virginia Rep’s Theatre Gym at 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 8. Claire and Kim: Claire McFadden and Kim Quindlen bring their celebrated Chicago sketch show to Richmond. Claire has improvised and performed sketch comedy all over the country with the Second City Touring Co., before going on to star in two Jeff-award nominated Second City Mainstage revues, Do the Right Thing, No Worries If Not and Don’t Quit Your Daydream. Kim Quindlen is a Chicago comedian and occasional mom. She regularly performs improv and sketch comedy at The Second City, iO Chicago, and Logan Square Improv. She has been featured on What We Do in the Shadows and Chicago Med. Claire and Kim will be performing at Gallery5 at 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 8. Sara Schaefer: Sara is a critically acclaimed stand up comedian, writer, and artist. Her Comedy Central Stand Up Presents special debuted in 2019 and she was the co-host of MTV’s late night show Nikki & Sara Live. Sara published her first book, Grand, in 2020. She has written for numerous television programs and won two Emmy awards for her work at Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Sara will be performing at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 7 at Black Iris Social Club, and 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 8 at the Coalition Theater. Fest performances will take place at four venues in the Downtown Arts District: The Coalition Theater, Theatre Gym at Virginia Rep, Gallery5, and Black Iris Social Club. In addition to outstanding performances, the fest will offer comedy workshops led by experienced instructors and performers from across the country. 2025 2nd Best Fest all-access passes are available for $50, with an option to purchase tickets for individual performances.
