Communities In Schools of Western Nevada Announces Second Annual All In For Kids Gala, April 15
Join us for our All In For Kids gala to help support the nearly 9,000 students from across Washoe County served by Communities In Schools (CIS). This event will feature success stories and showcase the wraparound support provided in 13 Washoe County Schools. The gala is the largest fundraiser of the year for CIS of Western Nevada which closes educational opportunity gaps for our students, empowering them to stay on track for a successful future.
Individual tickets are $150 per person, and sponsorships begin at $2,500. Tickets will go on sale in early March. CIS places full-time caring adults, called site coordinators in Title I and high-needs schools to support students with resources and connections to community services inside the school. CIS taps into a statewide network of more than 120 community nonprofits, partners, and agencies, literally bringing “community into the school,” to get students whatever they need to overcome the barriers they face that prevent them from attending school, staying engaged, and ultimately graduating. From eyeglasses, dental care, health care and professional counseling, to food, school supplies, clothing and even transportation, CIS identifies student needs and finds a way to address those needs, filling the gaps these students experience in their everyday lives. CIS’s long-term vision is for every child enrolled in a Title I or high-needs school to have access to a CIS site coordinator and the evidence-based Integrated Student Supports model, more commonly known as wraparound services.
