WCT Inaugurates Stand-Up Comedy Nights on Saturday, June 1
On Saturday, June 1, Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) will
present its first Stand-Up Comedy Night, featuring three NYC-based standup
comedians known nationwide through their many TV and film appearances.
Headlining an outstanding evening will be veteran comic Leighann Lord who has been
seen on HBO, Comedy Central, The View, and Showtime. She was named one of the
35 Most Hilarious Comedians of Diversity, was a national finalist in the American Black
Film Festival-HBO Comedy Wings Competition and received the NYC Comedy Award
for the Most Thought-Provoking Black Female Comic.Â
Jim Mendrinos, the featured artist, has performed on Comedy Central, HBO and the
BBC and currently has an hour-long special, Not Dead Yet, airing on Amazon Video
Direct. Chris Rock said of a Mendrinos program, “Living in Exile just might be the best
funniest show I've ever seen."Â The host for the evening will be JohnG, who plays Gail's
Dad in Gail’s New Boyfriend on Amazon Prime and was Santa in Melissa McCarthy’s
film, Genie.
The cabaret-style performance begins at 8:00 pm at WCT’s black box performance
space, 23 Water Street in Ossining. The house will open at 7:30pm. Tickets are $30;
cash bar and refreshments will be available.
