Wearable Stories: Youth Community Couture
Join us for "Wearable Stories: Youth Community Couture", an inspiring community fashion and textile exhibition celebrating the creativity, identity, and lived experiences of Queens youth.
Created by fashion designer, educator, and project director Monique "Mo" Glover , Founder of ZYEM NYC, this exhibition showcases original wearable art designed by Youth Co-Designers who have spent the summer transforming their personal stories into one-of-a-kind garments.
More than a fashion exhibition, "Wearable Stories" invites visitors into the creative journey. Through storytelling, mood boards, textile design, fashion illustration, technical illustration, draping, patternmaking, and garment construction, each designer explores a meaningful memory, object, place, or experience that has helped shape who they are.
Visitors will experience an immersive exhibition where fashion becomes a powerful form of storytelling and community connection.
The exhibition will also feature:
* Original wearable art by Youth Co-Designers
Community photographs and storytelling elements
Interactive opportunities for guests to reflect on their own stories
Behind-the-scenes insights into the design process
Whether you're a lover of fashion, art, education, or community, "Wearable Stories" celebrates the idea that every person has a story worth sharing.
