Native Plant Sale
The sale will feature keystone plants such as Solidago (golden rod), Rudbeckia (cone flower) and Coreopsis, and pollinator plants like Asclepias (butterfly weed) and Aster. If your garden is primarily shady, the sale will have plenty for you to choose from, such as Tiarella (foam flower), Lady Fern and Columbine. The sale will also feature special wildlife-friendly varieties and some unique shrubs like Honeysuckle, Hydrangea “Incrediball” and the low-maintenance shrub Itea, which can be purchased in 3-gallon containers.
Experts will be on hand all day to answer questions as well as to offer planting tips to help gardeners get the most out of each plant, and to educate and share the benefits of planting New Jersey natives. All proceeds from the sale will go towards funding Rumson Garden Club’s community projects. The sale will take place rain or shine. Purchases can be made with cash, check or credit card. Gardeners from the entire Two River area and beyond are welcome.
Native plant species are a vital part of New Jersey’s history and heritage, and they provide valuable sources of food,
medicine, and pharmaceuticals, as well as aesthetic, economic, and ecological benefits, to New Jersey, protecting the
State’s environment and enabling the State to adapt to ongoing environmental changes.
