In celebration of America Recycles Day, the Streets Department will open the gates of its newest sanitation convenience center located at 3901 N. Delaware Avenue in Port Richmond. This marks the sixth sanitation convenience center location in the City. All city residents are encouraged to attend the grand opening at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 13. America Recycles Day is a part of a national Keep America Beautiful initiative designed to educate and raise awareness around recycling by strategically building on existing efforts to increase recycling rates in municipal buildings.
All sanitation convenience center locations are open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., except holidays. Residents wanting to use sanitation convenience centers must show proof of Philadelphia residency, as the centers are for city residents' use only. Residents may use their personal passenger vehicle or pickup truck, or they may use a rental pickup truck (i.e., U-Haul, Rider, Home Depot, etc.) with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) under 6,000 pounds to enter the convenience centers. No commercial contractors or vehicles are allowed to use the facilities.
