Samaritans Southcoast to Host “Stand Up for Every Voice” Comedy Fundraiser During National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month - An evening of comedy, community, and hope will support Massachusetts’ 988 suicide prevention and crisis services
WESTPORT, MA — Samaritans Southcoast will bring together laughter, community, and a powerful message of hope at its Stand Up for Every Voice Comedy Fundraiser on Friday, September 18, 2026, at White’s of Westport.
Held during National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, Stand Up for Every Voice will raise critical funds and awareness for Samaritans Southcoast, Massachusetts’ full-service 988 agency that provides crisis support by phone, text, and chat.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m., with the comedy show beginning at 7:00 p.m. The evening will feature nationally recognized comedians, a silent auction, Wine & Win, a cash bar, food available for purchase, and a Donut Bar included with admission. Loved ones lost to suicide will be memorialized during the event. Supporting Stand Up for Every Voice are Headliner Sponsor First Congregational Church of Fall River and Spotlight Sponsors Whalerknits and The Tyler Joseph Leonard Memorial Foundation, among others.
“Stand Up for Every Voice is about more than having a great night out,” said Darcy H. Lee, Executive Director of Samaritans Southcoast. “It is about reminding people that no one has to face a difficult moment alone. Every ticket purchased helps us be there for someone who needs to be heard, supported, and reminded that there is hope.”
For more than four decades, Samaritans Southcoast has provided free, confidential, and nonjudgmental emotional support and suicide prevention services. Today, the organization operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and responds to more than 40,000 crisis and emotional-support contacts annually through 988 and related services.
In addition to its 988 services, Samaritans Southcoast provides Safe Place peer support for survivors of suicide loss, Care Calls for older adults, community education and outreach, including bullying prevention activities with young people, suicide prevention initiatives, and training opportunities that are helping develop the next generation of the behavioral health workforce.
“Laughter can bring people together, break down barriers, and create connection,” Lee added. “During Suicide Prevention Month, we want to fill the room with people who believe, as we do, that every life matters and every voice deserves to be heard.”
Three hundred guests are expected to attend.
