What's in Naissance:
From the canon of Swan Lake and Nutcracker choreographer, Maurius Petipa, RBC will present excerpts from Cavalry Halt and Harlequinade.
Cavalry Halt - a lively, comedic one-act ballet choreographed to music by Johann Armsheimer. The ballet playfully depicts the mischief and flirtation that ensue when a troop of cavalry officers rides into a quiet village.
Harlequinade - With music by Riccardo Drigo, Harlequinade is a spirited comedic ballet distinguished by its exquisite score and charming, inventive choreography. Inspired by the lively traditions of Commedia dell’Arte and the splendor of Venetian carnivals, the work transports audiences to a world of wit, romance, and theatrical playfulness.
RBC will also present excerpts from Walpurgisnacht. From Charles Gounod’s opera Faust, “Walpurgisnacht” is a vivid and fantastical ballet interlude inspired by the legendary witches’ sabbath of German folklore. Gounod’s dazzling orchestration and Leonid Lavrovsky's spirited choreography capture the seductive chaos of the spectacle, blending elegance with theatrical debauchery in one of opera’s most colorful interludes.
