The communal consumption of clam-flavored doughnut holes is a near-sacred summer ritual in Rhode Island. But they're equally delicious and interesting at turkey time, Great Clam Cake and Fritter Guide author Carolyn Wyman will argue in an illustrated talk that will also cover the stories behind year-round clam cake destinations like Iggy's, George's of Galilee and Champlin's, and clam cakes' origins as a filling first course at Victorian Narragansett Bay-side resorts and amusement parks like Crescent Park and Rocky Point. The talk will be followed by a book signing.
