14 Gold Street Series--Writers Live at the Library-Willard Spiegelman
Writer Willard Spiegelman will join us at the library for a reading and conversation. He will read from his landmark biography of the poet Amy Clampitt, published in 2023, Nothing Stays Put: The Life and Poetry of Amy Clampitt. Willard was the Duwain E. Hughes, Jr. Distinguished Professor of English at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas. He served at SMU with distinction for 46 years, retiring in 2017 as Professor Emeritus of English. He has written a dozen books, which include literary criticism, essays, lectures and memoirs. As part of the event, Willard will share a couple of Amy Clampitt's poems with us. This program is part of the 14 Gold Street spiritual refuge series developed by Fr. Spencer Reece, award-winning poet and rector of St. Paul's Church in Wickford.
