Peer-to-Peer Session: Grant Writing Made Simple with Dawn Salerno

About this event: This hybrid session, offered both in person as well as via Zoom, is designed to provide artists, creatives, and community organizers with practical strategies to strengthen their grant applications and increase their chances of funding success. Peer-to-Peer Sessions is a free and accessible (mostly) online series geared to enrich, educate, and connect creatives through a series of workshops and training sessions. New Bedford is the home of artists, creatives, change makers, designers, entrepreneurs and community enthusiasts and the Peer-to-Peer Sessions embraces the pulse that makes New Bedford so unique while expanding our knowledge and connections. Funding for this initiative is provided by the City of New Bedford, Arts, Culture and Tourism Fund. Additional support comes from the Barr Foundation and Bristol County Savings Bank, and by the New Bedford Economic Development Council, which receives support in part from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. Peer-to-Peer Sessions is one component of a larger initiative to support arts-based economic development. About Dawn Salerno: Dawn Estabrooks Salerno has been working in the museum field her entire career, including positions at the Wadsworth Atheneum (Hartford, CT), Mystic Museum of Art (Mystic, CT), and currently, the Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum (New Bedford, MA). She holds a Master’s in Education from Bank Street College and completed the Getty Leadership Institute (GLI) for Museum Leadership in 2017. Dawn has been a grant reviewer for the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the New Bedford Local Cultural Council and NB Creative. She also serves on several New Bedford leadership groups including the South Coast Community Foundation Corporators, NB Creative Consortium, and New Bedford Education Foundation. More about New Bedford Creative: New Bedford Creative is housed at the New Bedford Economic Development Council and tasked with implementing the city’s first-ever strategic arts and culture plan. The vision of the plan is that “In New Bedford, the creative community is an engaged and powerful partner, inspiring social, economic, and cultural growth. In this authentic seaport city, each and every person enjoys an opportunity to experience a diversity of cultures. Art is everywhere, encouraging fun, provoking thought, and nurturing the soul.” To learn more, visit newbedfordcreative.org.
