Opera in the Parlors: An afternoon of music at Linden Place Mansion
Linden Place will host a very special concert inside the 200-year-old mansion with mezzo-soprano, Elizabeth Kinder and pianist, Adam Welch, alongside surprise guests, on Sunday, November 12th at 2pm. The concert is reminiscent of intimate parlor performances of the 18th and early 19th centuries.
The intimate recital will include songs by Obradors, Berlioz, Shostakovich and more. The concert will also feature operatic arias, the Rosenkavalier Trio, and Broadway duets.
Elizabeth Kinder has performed throughout New England and is praised for her “warm voice”, “effortless technique” and “spirited delivery”. She has sung with Boston Lyric Opera, Odyssey Opera, Boston Opera Collaborative, MetroWest Opera, North End Music and Performing Arts Center, Promenade Opera Project, Connecticut Lyric Opera, Opera Providence and more. Ms. Kinder holds a master’s degree in Vocal Performance from the Boston Conservatory.
Andrew Jonathan Welch is a musician whose career combines performance, composition, leadership and education. Andrew serves as the artistic director of the Falmouth Chorale. Recent recording projects include a CD with trumpet player Luke Spence and saxophonist, Noah Getz on Albany Records. Additionally, Andrew is the director of music ministries at Allin Congregational Church in Dedham, MA, and teaches at Brown University, the New England Conservatory, and privately.
In the Linden Place parlor where the concert will take place is a Steinway baby grand piano purchased by Colonel Samuel P. Colt for his family in 1911 from the M. Steinert & Sons Company of Providence. Colt loved to entertain guests at Linden Place and that piano undoubtedly was a focal point for many a musical evening. In later years Ethel Colt Miglietta, daughter of actress Ethel Barrymore, gave voice lessons in the room, accompanying her students on the Steinway.
Tickets for this limited seating event are $45, $40 for Linden Place Members and include a glass of prosecco. Reservations are strongly recommended. Tickets may be purchased through lindenplace.org or by calling the Linden Place office at 401-253-0390.
