The Joy & Wonder of Miniatures: Exhibit Opening & Event at Hearthside Museum
In celebration of Father's Day weekend, this opening day of the miniatures exhibit features items of special interest to dads and also kids, moms, and everyone in between. Featured are Civil War dioramas, a replica of the 1904 World's Fair ferris wheel, miniature portraits and artwork, models of ships, planes, trains and automobiles. A Rolls-Royce pedal car and a custom-made model of the car driven by Hearthside former owner, Andrew Mowbray, in The Great Gatsby have all the precision and skills in their making that sets miniatures apart. Another feature is a collection of metal art all in miniature, from a tool chest to a violin in a case. There are doll houses, stagecoaches, and antique kitchen stoves. Outdoors, there will be a Civil War display of period weaponry as well as a camp set up with two historians to explain this period of history. A food truck will be on site, Sam's Weiners, to provide Rhode Island's favorite, hot weiners. The event and exhibit are appealing to all ages and will surely delight and amaze guests. Also a summer-long raffe and a raffle prize the day of the event
The exhibit is opened throughout the summer on weekend days on specific dates. With each of the openings there will be a special outdoor feature, from vendors to performers and lecturer.
Admission is $12 or $15 combo pricing if participating in the outdoor miniature making activity as well as the exhibit entrance. Children age 9 and under are free.
