Kingston Chamber Music Festival

Every year, the Kingston Chamber Music Festival (KCMF) breathes new life into the genre of classical music with lively ensembles that surprise and enchant, and our 36th season is no exception! Throughout six concerts, internationally acclaimed musicians will infuse their incredible skill and passion into a wide range of repertoire—from fresh takes on classic pieces to new works by living composers—delivering one-of-a-kind musical performances. From the novel pairing of a mandolin and classical guitar with traditional stringed instruments to repertoire that has been arranged in classical orchestration just for this festival – including Pura Fé’s Rattle Songs and Masud Jamil’s Sama’i Nahwand for Mandolin, Guitar and Strings – experience never-heard-before music alongside beloved classics such as Antonín Dvořák’s Quartet in F Major, Op.96. One highlight of the festival will be on August 2nd when the two-time Grammy-nominated Dover Quartet gives the world-premiere performance of a commissioned piece from Emmy-winning American Indian composer Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate. Tate, a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation, composes music that has been described as “rich, provocative and moving” (The New York Times) and “lusty and vivid” (San Francisco Classical Voice). He wrote Woodland Songs, a five-movement piece, for the Dover Quartet, noting that it will be a “very dramatic orchestration of the woodland animals that represent our clan system.” Tickets are now on sale and are available at www.kingstonchambermusic.org/tickets/ or by calling the Box Office at (401) 308-3614.
