Spring Forward: Drafts From the Past

Join the Rhode Island Historical Society at the Aldrich House on Thursday, May 16, 2024, for our annual fundraising benefit Spring Forward: Drafts From the Past, a showcase of the best-laid plans from our collections, including blueprints, patents, models, recipes, sheet music, and more. The evening will begin at 5:30pm with a VIP reception featuring tastings from Bottles inspired by Oliver Hazard Perry’s cellar book, as well as the opportunity to speak with collections staff about Making History: Handmade in Rhode Island, the new exhibit in our changing gallery. The main event will begin at 6:30pm, when guests will enjoy performances by the Vox Hunters, who will discuss their work to rediscover historical music in our archives, delicious food paired with recipes from our collections, plans and drawings for existing and never-built Providence landmarks; and much more! Attendees will also have the opportunity to see the impact of their support by viewing award-winning projects from the RI History Day State Competition and meeting students and teachers before they head to Nationals! VIP tickets are $125. Event admission is $50 for members and $75 for non-members. Tickets are available now. All event proceeds will directly benefit our outward-facing educational mission. Spring Forward: Drafts from the Past is presented by Amica. It is also made possible with the support of Dr. & Mrs. Barry & Kathleen Hittner; along with Bank of America and The Stanley Weiss Collection; as well as Avid, Mandel & Tracy, LLC, Bottles, Mr. & Mrs. Robert & Catherine Sloan, Partridge, Snow & Hahn, and the University of Rhode Island College of Arts & Sciences.
