Classical Guitarist Francesco Barone will present a Groupmuse concert including music from the standard classical guitar repertoire. Background information will be given on all the pieces being performed and the recital is open to audiences of all ages. The feature piece will be Andrea Clearfield’s Reflections on the Dranyen. Clearfield is a living female composer whose piece is inspired by and seeks to imitate the Tibetan dranyen.
Award-winning guitarist Francesco Barone has performed throughout the United States as soloist and chamber musician. He has been featured by guitar festivals and societies, including The Hartt School Guitar Festival, the Connecticut Guitar Society, and the New England Guitar Society. In addition to traditional venues, Barone interacts with local communities and regularly performs outreach concerts at town libraries throughout New England. He also connects with younger audiences by giving house concerts nationally through the classical music startup Groupmuse.
Groupmuse is a worker- and musician-owned cooperative seeking to uplift artists and strengthen broader community bonds through live, intimate performances of historically-rooted music. Groupmuse is an online platform where hosts and musicians organize concerts (which we call "groupmuses") in non-traditional spaces, such as living rooms, backyards, church basements, and public parks.
“Francesco puts together strikingly original programs, which he plays with
flair and substance - and is quick to give all the background and context
eager audiences might want to hear about.”
--Sam Bodkin, Groupmuse CEO
