There's a colorful new meadow taking shape along the Woonasquatucket River Greenway at Goldsmith Street. Over the past year, thousands of native pollinator plants have been installed at this special spot in Johnston, creating habitat for bees, butterflies, birds, and other wildlife while transforming the riverfront into a vibrant community space.
Come and explore it with us this weekend! Join the Goldsmith Friends Group for Meadow Madness, a series of community gatherings where we'll learn about native plants, pollinators, and meadow ecosystems while connecting with neighbors and enjoying the Greenway together.
You'll have the chance to:
• Learn why native plants are easier to care for and better for local wildlife
• Discover why new meadows don't always look the way we expect in their first year
• See a unique functional sculpture that helps water the landscape
• Meet fellow neighbors who care about the river and Greenway
• Spend time outdoors in this awesome community space
• Lend a hand caring for the meadow if you'd like
Whether you're an avid gardener, a nature lover, curious about pollinators, or simply looking for a fun way to spend a Saturday morning, we'd love to see you there.
