Celebrity Organ Recital: Thomas Sheehan
On Saturday, November 11 at 7:00 pm, Dr. Thomas Sheehan will present a thrilling recital of eclectic organ music from the latter half of the 20th century and beyond. This one-of-a-kind program features a diverse selection of contemporary organ works by women, BIPOC, AAPI, and living composers, including Rachel Laurin, Brenda Portman, and Mark A. Miller.
Dr. Sheehan’s 75-minute recital of contemporary organ works showcases a musical mixture of introspection, elegance, and fire – a combination perfectly suited to the world-class Rosales organ. Included in the program is Carson Cooman’s Overture to Uncle Vanya, premiered by Dr. Sheehan just last year.
One of the premier organists of his time, Dr. Sheehan is Organist and Associate Director of Music at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC, where he leads its acclaimed organ program. He has concertized throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, and played for the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Dr. Sheehan is a graduate of Boston University, Westminster Choir College, and the Curtis Institute of Music.
