Openning Reception for Dave Meeker's "RAIN"
Rain: is a kinetic installation that is further activated as viewers move through it. The artwork considers rain in its many guises: gentle, steady, torrential, pouring, gully washer, mist. Rain is a defining feature of Oregon. It forms the substance of our rivers, lakes and streams and nourishes our verdant forests, which provide habitat for an incredible diversity of flora and fauna. Rain gives this region its identity, power, and magic.
Rain: takes the raindrop form and transmutes it into light…silver drops of "water" become swirling kaleidoscopic points of light. Mr. Meeker hopes Rain: brings as much joy to viewers as rain brings to him.
