CRY WITH ME
Award-winning songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and veteran Portland musician, Stephanie Schneiderman, debuts her new single, “Cry With Me” backed by her full band at POLARIS HALL on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2024. McKinley, (Stephanie’s Dirty Martini bandmate) will open the night with a set of heartbreaking and hilarious songs and stories.
Schneiderman wrote and produced her new single “Cry With Me” as an invitation to stay tender during these divisive and painful times. Though it’s a song meant for all, the collective grief and cry for compassion center on the battles women fight every day. Featuring Jenny Conlee (Decemberists, accordion), Ji Tanzer (Blue Cranes, drums), Tony Furtado (baritone banjo, ukulele) and Keith Brush (Blue Cranes, upright bass), — the impressive collection of musicians create a compelling sonic atmosphere rife with rage, hope, and uncertainty. The power lies in the melody, somber tones, haunting accordion -surging alongside Schneiderman’s affecting vocals, and the rawness of the lyrics.
The accompanying music video, produced and crafted with a diverse crew and an all-female cast, helmed by powerhouse Portland director/editor/creator Alicia J. Rose, was shot at the decommissioned Zidell Shipyards, embodying grief and humanity – utilizing the incredible talents of five female dancers, spanning seven decades of life - who beautifully morph into the various stages of grief through dance, choreographed by Stephanie’s niece, Sarah Palumbis.
