The Lake Oswego Millennium Concert Band Presents: Around the World in 3/4 Time!
"Around the Wold in 3/4 Time!" reflects the international variety of the music being presented as well as the numerous dance pieces, from Irish Reels to Russian Folk Dances, from a Middle Eastern Arabesque to a Spanish Mambo. Jeff Binns, a master of the Euphonium, will perform an exciting feature solo with the band called "Carman Fantasy", which is a composition based on themes from the opera Carmen. The band will also premier a new transcription for band of the Marche Scherzo from Camille Saint-Saens' First Symphony, transcribed by Christopher Steig, an alto/bass clarinetist in the band. From classical music, to Broadway musicals, to Irish Reels, to the beauty of Amazing Grace, to a beloved Sousa March, this concert will have something for every musical taste. The Lake Oswego Millennium Concert Band is a nationally award-winning symphonic band that was formed for the Millennium celebration and is still going strong. Come out and join the excitement.
