Sync'd brings you a night of expanded cinema, bringing Pittsburgh visual artists together with local musicians to create multi projector, multi-media, sound and moving image performances.
Northern Lights Projections + Telavision
Northern Lights Projections (Laura Jean Kahl and Ross Nugent) will be providing a multi-projector expanded cinema performance utilizing recycled 16mm films, color filters, hand-jives, etc. Telavision will accompany them with hypnotic r&b/gospel textures triggered via an Akai MPC1000 alongside layered instrumentation.
Droning Brightness + Dirtbag
Keith Foster (Droning Brightness) blends classic video processing techniques with modern video synthesizers combining elements of light and sound, generating hypnotic weaving of color and reactive pulsations of luminescence. Meanwhile, dirtbag employs gritty synthesizers, mangled samples, and light-reactive instruments to create rhythmic, swirling, never ending drone noise chaos explorations.
Friendly Spinach + Luke Starcher
Friendly Spinach (Yoni Maltsman) will prepare for the audience a spinach smoothie by throwing conductive yarn, livecoded visuals, a servo motor, a free crystal from a generous chandelier store owner, a webcam that sees itself, and maybe even some spinach into the spinach blender, a semi autonomous graphics processing unit. His visuals will mobilize the audience in his environmentally driven mission: "save kale, eat spinach." Luke Starcher (aka Good Dude Lojack) is providing electronic delight by way of guitar, sample experimentation, and ever evolving pedals, providing a lush and delicate balance of soundscapes and rhythm.
