Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra presents "The Circus is in Town!"
The Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra under the direction of Alejandro Pinzon will present “The Circus Is In Town!” on Saturday November 4, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. The Circus is Coming to Town by Joseph Nicholas Fried is a quartet scored for flute, clarinet, cello and piano, and it evokes the buzz of activity that surrounds the preparation and the excitement of the performers in anticipation of the show. The featured selection will be Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saens with narration provided by Daniel Kovacic, music director of Resurrection Parish. In the music, Saint-Saens has captured the essence of each creature and as you listen to the music you will find yourself transformed. The orchestra will also perform quintessential circus music; Kabalevsky’s Dance of the Comedians and Entry of the Gladiators by Julius Fučík. There will be family friendly pre-concert activities (a balloon artist and more) from 6:30-7:30. There are no tickets. A suggested $10 offering donation will be accepted at the door.
