The Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh (COP) joins The Pittsburgh Camerata for two performances of Arthur Honegger’s King David Oratorio on October 19, 2024, 7:30pm at Calvary Methodist Church on the North Side and on October 20, 2024, 3:00pm at Shadyside Methodist Church.
The two ensembles last partnered in 2021 to present Misatango by Martín Palmeri, and they are delighted to join forces again to perform a work uniquely fitting for their strengths. King David (often known by its original French title, Le Roi David) has been among Honegger’s most celebrated works. “This piece deserves to be performed, and Pittsburgh deserves to hear what Honegger has created,” says COP Artistic Director Edward Leonard. He continues, “We have been looking forward to another partnership with The Pittsburgh Camerata ever since the great success with Palmeri’s Misatango, and King David is the perfect piece for collaboration.”
Tickets are $30 for adults if purchased in advance and $35 at the door, and $10 for students. Tickets are available online at www.copgh.org.
The season has been made possible in part through the generous support of the Heinz Endowments, the Hillman Foundation, The Opportunity Fund, the Laurel Foundation, and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
