As Spring Turns to Summer

The Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh concludes its 2023-24 season with “As Spring Turns to Summer,” a program that includes Strauss, Honegger, and Copland, with performances on June 1, 2024, 7:30pm, at Levy Hall in Rodef Shalom and June 2, 2024, 3:00pm at Bower Hill Community Church. Soprano Zuly Inirio joins the orchestra for a performance of Richard Strauss’s cycle Four Last Songs. The program rounds out with the enormously popular Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland and Arthur Honegger’s Pastorale d’été. Hailing from the Dominican Republic, Zuly Inirio has appeared as a soloist throughout the United States and Europe. Her roles include Mrs. Grose in The Turn of the Screw, First Lady in The Magic Flute, Gertrud in Hansel und Gretel, Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana, and scenes from Ariadne auf Naxos, Götterdämmerung, Falstaff, and Albert Herring. “This program is a fitting way to end a season for the Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh,” says Artistic Director Edward Leonard. “We have a special guest in Zuly Inirio, performing a rarely heard masterpiece in the Strauss, an under-appreciated gem in Honegger, and finally the opportunity to put our distinct touch on a consistent favorite, Appalachian Spring.” Tickets are $30 if purchased in advance, $10 for students, and they are available online at www.copgh.org.
