The 2025 Soil to Table Summit, hosted by the University of Arizona Center for Urban Smart Agriculture, brings together growers, ranchers, advocates, and community members who care about building a stronger and more sustainable food system in Arizona. The summit serves as a space for people across the state to share ideas, learn from one another, and explore practical ways to improve how food is grown, distributed, and supported in both rural and urban settings.
This two day gathering features keynote presentations, workshops, and networking opportunities focused on regenerative and organic practices, urban food policy, market access, and sustainable farm management. The program is designed to reflect Arizona’s diverse growing conditions and communities, from small urban gardens to larger production farms.
Workshops will cover a range of topics including soil health, irrigation efficiency, livestock production, mushroom cultivation, food safety, organic pest management, and grant funding opportunities. Each session will provide practical information and tools that participants can take home and use in their own operations, classrooms, organizations, or community gardens.
The summit will share growing information that anyone can use whether managing a farm business, tending a backyard garden, or simply looking to understand how food moves from soil to table. Presenters and participants represent a wide range of experience, bringing together academic research, on the ground knowledge, and community based approaches to agriculture and food systems.
In addition to workshops and keynotes, the program will include a panel discussion on strengthening local food distribution. The panel will explore how producers, distributors, and organizations can work together to expand market access, improve regional supply networks, and make locally grown food more available to communities across Arizona.
Throughout the two days, attendees will have time to meet others working in local food and agriculture, exchange ideas, and build connections that can lead to new collaborations and partnerships. Participants will include small scale, urban, and beginning farmers as well as representatives from nonprofits, government agencies, and the University of Arizona.
The Soil to Table Summit is open to anyone interested in food and farming in Arizona. Whether you are a producer, policymaker, student, educator, or community member, the event offers useful information and opportunities to connect with others who share an interest in creating a resilient and thriving local food system.
By bringing together people who grow food, those who support growers, and those who care about where their food comes from, the summit continues to build a statewide network of people working toward a shared goal of healthy soil, strong communities, and a sustainable agricultural future.
A limited number of discounted tickets and scholarships are available to support participants with financial need.
