During WWII, a select group of young Navajo men enlisted in the Marines, using a unique weapon—their language. They developed a secret code based on Navajo that the enemy never deciphered. In this hour-long program, Laura Tohe, the current Navajo Nation Poet Laureate and Professor Emerita at Arizona State University, will explore the Code Talkers' cultural background, how the code was created and used, and the role of Navajo spiritual beliefs in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Don't miss this fascinating presentation that honors their legacy and resilience—registration is required.
