Calling all ex-New Yorkers, movie buffs and fans of the 1979 classic cult film "The Wanderers." Local Mesa author, Steve Bergsman, has written a fascinating, new book about "The Wanderers" and the history of teen-gang movies. Come watch the film on Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. at the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center (JCC) and meet Bergsman to learn more about the inspiration and insights that led him to write "The Wanderers - Killer Teens, Rebel Teens, Gang Teens and the Evolution of the Last Great Greaser Feature." There will be an author Q&A and book signing. Egg creams and light refreshments will also be served. Cost is $10 members/non-members. Advanced registration is required.
As a journalist and renowned rock 'n' roll author, Bergsman has contributed to more than 100 magazines, newspapers, and wire services over the past four decades. As an author, he has written more than a dozen books including three other new releases in 2023: “Earth Angels - The Short Lives and Controversial Deaths of Three R & B Pioneers,” “What a Difference a Day Makes: Women Who Conquered 1950s Music,” and “All I Want Is Loving You: Popular Female Singers of the 1950s.” All of Bergsman's books are available on Amazon.
