Around the World in 90 Minutes
Desert Overture, Phoenix’s Premier LGBT and Ally Wind Symphony, is performing Around the World in 90 Minutes on Sunday, June 16th at 3:00 p.m. This concert will take place at Tempe Center for the Arts, 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe, AZ 85281. Tickets are $20 for adults; $15.00 for Seniors. There is a $5.00 surcharge for tickets purchased at the door. Kids are FREE, as well as high school students with identification. Tickets are available at: desertoverture.org.
Join Desert Overture through captivating melodies of different cultures and continents. Experience exciting musical styles from around the Globe that everyone can enjoy from Africa to Japan and Indonesia to Mexico. The performance will feature guest artist, José Salazar on Piano.
“Our performance will catapult the audience across the globe,” said Scott Helms, Desert Overture Artistic Director. “The diverse music selections are designed to unify and uplift the audience.”
Desert Overture, with its more than 50 musicians, was formed in 2010 and remains a hidden cultural gem in the Valley of the Sun. The concert band is an active member of the Pride Bands Alliance, which has grown to 37 member bands across the country, as well as internationally. The group performs several major concerts each year. Many Desert Overture members played instruments in high school and college and now enjoy producing quality music, along with friends in once-a-week rehearsals.
This concert is partially funded by a City of Tempe – Community Arts Grant.

Desert Overture is a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Ally (LGBTA) Wind Symphony whose mission is to entertain, enrich, educate, and support the community and our members through our passion for music. As cultural ambassadors of the LGBTA community, we build bridges of acceptance and understanding in the community at large; provide a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for our members and audience; and foster a greater appreciation for quality music.
