Scottsdale Fashion Square Partners with American Red Cross to Host Community Blood Drive Sept. 4

It’s no secret that everything slows down during an Arizona summer. Unfortunately, blood donations are no exception. With fall approaching, volunteer donors play an essential role in rebuilding the local blood supply before the surge of seasonal residents. Donations help ensure an adequate blood supply is available to treat patients due to accidents, surgery, illness and disease. With that potentially life-saving need in mind, Scottsdale Fashion Square is teaming up with the American Red Cross to host a Community Blood Drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4. A Bloodmobile will be located in the shopping center’s south parking lot, across from Capital One Café. Appointments are strongly encouraged, but walk-in appointments may also be available. Donors with all blood types are welcome, especially those with types O negative, A negative and B negative who can give a Power Red donation, which collects a concentrated dose of red blood cells. These donors must meet specific eligibility requirements. The drive will also accept regular blood donations, during which approximately a pint of whole blood is given; these appointments usually take about an hour. After donating, participants can relax in the recovery area.
