Join us for an Advent sermon series titled “How Does a Weary World Rejoice?” In these times of persistent inflation, distant and local conflicts, job uncertainties, and personal turmoil, how can we carve out moments to listen to the resounding voice of truth? Join these reflective sermon experiences every Sunday through Advent (11/26-12/24) @ 10AM. All are invited. The Christ child was born into a weary world. King Herod ruled the land with a legacy of ruthlessness. The Romans treated the people of Israel with contempt, imposing harsh taxes and land seizures that forced many into subsistence farming. Poverty and destitution were pervasive. And yet, Christ was born, bringing good news of great joy for all people. As Advent returns to a world weighed down by weariness, we ponder: "Amidst this weariness, where does joy find its place?" In the upcoming season, we delve into the narratives found in the initial chapters of Luke's Gospel. Embracing both our weariness and our capacity for joy, we aspire to discover a "thrill of hope" amidst the pain of our world. Throughout this Advent journey, our sermons will illuminate diverse pathways toward rejoicing despite the prevailing weariness of our times.
