Humming the Holiday Blues When You Want to Be Singing "Joy to the World"?
Feeling sad, anxious, or depressed when you want to be celebrating the Season of Light?
This season reminds us of holidays past and what we may be missing:
- Grandma who made those special ginger cookies
- The house filled with excited children
- Friends, siblings, grown children scattered far and wide
- Parents, partners, and places now passed from our lives
- Our own inability to host the holiday meal, join the carolers, or act in the Holiday pageant
There can be solace in coming together to acknowledge how this season truly feels for each of us, to hear one another's stories of limitations and loss, and to hold space for what still aches. There may be mourning that has not yet found expression. Here, we can honor it, and perhaps, begin to heal.
