Food City Grand Reopening Celebration for Avondale Store is Sept. 4

The grocery store, which opened 24 years ago, recently underwent a complete remodel. To celebrate, the first 200 guests who visit the store this Wednesday, Sept. 4 (the store opens at 6 am) will receive a free reusable Food City bag filled with goodies with purchase. At 8 a.m. that day, Avondale leaders and Food City executives will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Agua Fria High School’s Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps, and Cheer, Pom, and Band. Additionally, between 8 a.m. and noon, guests can enjoy free food sampling throughout the store; spin the Food City prize wheel for a chance to win a Food City gift card or product; and enjoy access to a health coach who can answer nutrition questions and offer healthy tips and snacks. From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., guests can also enjoy live mariachi music. Food City has made upgrades to its entire Avondale store to boost customer satisfaction and improve the overall shopping experience. The newly remodeled store will have a host of expanded offerings, including: • Center/Front Store Areas: Remodeled customer service counter, and new Wall-Deli cases; • Produce Department: New produce tables and cases offering grab-n-go, fresh-cut fruit, and in-season Hatch Chiles; • Meat Department: All new meat and seafood cases and new bunkers to offer a bigger variety of meat and ready to grill marinated meats. • Bakery Department: New bakery cases offering the traditional pan dulce (sweet bread), tres leches cakes, in-season Hatch Green Chile cornbread muffins; bolillos (bread rolls) filled with cream cheese and jalapeños; and pumpkin spice mantecadas (pound-cake cupcakes); • Deli Department: New hot cases offering grab-n-go dishes along with mesquite-flavored whole chickens; and • Floral Department: New cases offering a variety of flower bouquets, roses, and plants along with balloons and party favors. In addition to getting a first look at the newly remodeled store, nearby residents can also opt to order their Food City groceries online for curbside pickup or at-home delivery by visiting www.myfoodcity.com.
