CONCERTS AT CHRIST CHURCH – AUGUST 25, 2024
Christ Church of the Ascension (CCA) will host a CONCERTS AT CHRIST CHURCH event, “Walking with Bach”, on Sunday, August 25 at 4:30 pm in the main church, featuring CCA Music Director Tigran Buniatyan.
“In October of 1705, Bach asked for permission to leave his position as director of music in Arnstadt for four weeks to visit and to study with 68-year-old Dieterich Buxtehude, the renowned organist at St. Mary’s Church in Lübeck. Bach traveled 450 miles on foot to attend a series of Buxtehude’s Advent concerts, and then ended up staying with him for four months,” says Tigran. “This concert will showcase the music of Bach, Buxtehude, and other inspirational composers Bach encountered during his journey.”
All are welcome to attend this free concert; donations will benefit the Choir Program at CCA and may be made at the door or at ccaaz.org/donate (please select Music Donation from the drop-down fund menu.)
