Tuesday, May 13, through Sunday, May 18 The history of Woodford in the late 18th Century, when the mansion was owned by David Franks, tells stories of Jewish families in Colonial Philadelphia. Franks was part of a respected and successful Jewish merchant family, but he married an Anglican. While he was deeply entrenched in colonial trade and enterprise, his daughter, Rebecca, was a Loyalist socialite who favored the British forces occupying Philadelphia. Hear about the Franks family, their influence on Woodford, and about Jewish life in 18th-century Philadelphia on these special tours that will commemorate Jewish Heritage Month.
