The City Year Philadelphia Associate Board is excited to host CY Bee on Friday March 11, from 7:00-9:00 pm at The Wells Fargo History Museum (123 S. Broad St.). Tickets are $40 and include hors d'oeuvres, an open bar, and the opportunity to participate in the first ever City Year Philadelphia Spelling Bee. Guests who opt-in will be randomly selected to participate in one of the first three rounds.
Three finalists, winners of each of those first three rounds, will compete against one another in the final round to become the 2016 CY Bee Champion and take home the grand prize“ 40,000 AAdvantage Miles provided by American Airlines. AAdvantage Miles can be used to fly to exciting destinations on American Airlines, American Eagle, AmericanConnection carrier, or another AAdvantage participant airline.
All proceeds from this event support City Year Philadelphia. City Year is a nonprofit organization that brings together teams of young AmeriCorps members who commit to a year of full-time service in schools. Corps members provide individual support to students who need extra care and attention, focusing on attendance, behavior, and course performance through in-class tutoring, mentoring, and after school programs. In Philadelphia, over 200 City Year AmeriCorps members are serving more than 8,000 students in 14 schools across the city.
