Immigrant Integration as an Economic Development Strategy

Over the last half-decade, a movement of local immigrant-welcoming and immigrant-focused economic development initiatives has been created and is beginning to define the national character around immigration. The Philadelphia region is well positioned to take advantage of immigration to reinvigorate its communities- to infuse local economies with new businesses and talent, to attract and retain newcomers, and to be competitive in the global economy.

Tickets to the second event are $45, and all proceeds go toward supporting small business development services for immigrant entrepreneurs at the Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians.



This event series will:

-Place the issue of immigration on the right plane by fostering public discussions between leaders in our city
-Highlight the positive aspects of immigration and address negative perceptions
-Unify the narratives of older generations of immigrants with the stories of the newest immigrants to the area
-Leading up to the November elections, make immigration a front-and-center issue for the next mayor of Philadelphia
-Establish a forum for ongoing discussions about immigrant integration, global entrepreneurship development, and the immigrant-welcoming movement.
