Racism in America. Over 23 years ago, Soraida Martinez created Verdadism to raise awareness on what she saw as a big problem in America. Exhibition at the Verdadism Art Gallery.

What Prejudice Looks Like. Interracial Family: The Way Society Sees It. Puerto Rican Stereotype: The Way You See Me Without Looking At Me. These are some of the original paintings and drawings created by Soraida, the visionary artist that created the art style of Verdadism, paintings with social commentaries.

Over 23 years ago, Soraida Martinez created Verdadism to raise awareness on what she saw then as a big problem in America...a problem that is even bigger today: racism. Since 1992, Soraida has been creating paintings and writing social commentaries that raise awareness on racism, sexism, stereotyping, alienation and many of the social issues that affect Latinos, African-Americans, Women and the individuals marginalizes by mainstream American society. The art of Verdadism advocates tolerance and understanding, while inspiring hope and empowerment for those individuals who want to make a difference in American society.

All are welcome to meet the Artist and continue this dialogue on race relations and social justice. This exhibition runs from October 15, 2015 to September 15, 2015. Gallery hours are by appointment, Monday-Saturday. To schedule your visit, please call 856-346-3131.
