It’s 8:00 am on a Monday morning. Mr. Wright, the only openly queer teacher, is not in the building. As rumors fly and students begin to question each other and the adults around them, the school is thrown into turmoil. Join Yes! And... Collaborative Arts' teen Shadow Company for LGBTQuiet, a one-act play that follows a group of students as they navigate claiming their personal identities in the culture war of their school. This show will explore identity, self-expression, and wanting to be seen and heard in an environment that is suppressing you in the name of “protection”. Taking inspiration from the discourse surrounding the Don’t Say Gay Bill, Shadow Company is creating a drama centered on the failure of schools to act in the best interests of their students.
LGBTQuiet will premiere as part of the 2022 Fringe Arts Festival at the Venice Island Performing Arts and Recreation Center in Manayunk. The performance runs September 9 - 11 and is approximately 50 minutes. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for students and can be purchased at www.yesandcamp.org.

Collaborative Arts’ mission is to: Equip children and young people with the tools to be better learners, to believe in themselves and to realize their dreams through the work of creating collaboratively with peers and professional artists. We work with children and youth from across Philadelphia in the collaborative and imaginative arts through Summer Theatre Camps, Studio programs, Shadow Company high school leadership and arts training, and the Sort of Thing program.
