Thursday, Sept 15, departs at 7 am Departs from the Wister Center Our first stop will be Brooklyn Bridge Park for a tour with Director of Horticulture Rebecca McMackin to learn about the dynamic, evolving ecosystem with its meadows, hedgerows, wetlands, lawns, and trees in combination with spaces to play, relax, and enjoy the view. The park is managed organically, has many native plants, and recirculates rainwater for irrigation, encouraging a healthy environment for all visitors whether they be human, birds, bugs, or turtles. We will then take a quick ferry ride over to the East River Waterfront for lunch on your own and to explore the Seaport Historic District with Julie Jenney and Jeff Jabco. The Waterfront Esplanade is an exciting work in progress. It seeks to improve access to the waterfront, enhance pedestrian connectivity, and create waterfront amenities for public use. Travel by coach. Bring your own lunch or money to buy lunch along the East River Waterfront. Limit 30.
