The Future of Elections in Pennsylvania

Calling all civically engaged Philadelphians, educators, policy wonks, and thought leaders: Join us on the eve of the 2015 elections for an exclusive opportunity to hear from PA Secretary of State Pedro Cortes about the future of elections in our state.

Secretary Cortes will cover new technologies and tools being implemented to make the voter registration process more accessible and efficient, there will be an opportunity for you to ask him questions directly.

Secretary Cortes is the first confirmed Latino Cabinet member and the longest serving Secretary of State (2003-2010) in Pennsylvania history. As Secretary, he leads the Pennsylvania Department of State, which promotes the integrity of the electoral process, supports economic development through corporate filings and transactions, and protects the health and safety of the public.

A native of Puerto Rico, Cortes served as the Executive Director of the Governor's Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs under two Pennsylvania governors. His public service career also includes roles at the Department of Public Welfare and the State Civil Service Commission. Cortes also brings a wealth of legal knowledge, having also served as a partner with the law firm of Haggerty, Goldberg, Schleifer and Kupersmith.

Cortes has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Hispanic Business Magazine's 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the United States.
