Present day Philadelphia is transported back to 1900s Paris in the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts (PSCA) production of The Green Fairy Cabaret, from Thursday, April 14, 2011 to Sunday, April 17, 2011, at the Kimmel Center's Hamilton Garden, at 12:00pm (Noon) on Saturday and Sunday. The show will feature performances by top circus artists in fabric (tissu), aerial ladder, trapeze and acrobatics. This new original production is part of the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts. In 1900s Paris, Paris sparkled with five permanent circuses. Night after night, Picasso, Leger, Apollinaire and other artists watched the shows and mingled after hours with the jugglers, saltimbanques, clowns, harlequins and acrobats who embodied artistic risk. Painters, sculptors and circus artists challenged the status quo by redefining the limits of human possibility. Today, the region's top circus artists explore and redefine their own limits during these special performances for children and families. Tickets are $16 for seniors (60 and older), students and children (12 and older), and $20 for adults. All tickets are valid for general admission seating. Weekend matinee performances at 12:00pm (Noon) are suitable for all ages.
