Two of the biggest names in Latin jazz ”Grammy Award winners Arturo Sandoval and Poncho Sanchez ”share the stage for one electrifying evening. A protege of the legendary jazz master Dizzy Gillespie, Arturo Sandoval is a founding member of the group Irakere, whose explosive mixture of jazz, classical, rock and traditional Cuban music caused a worldwide sensation. Sandoval remains one of the most dynamic and vivacious live performers of our time.
For more than three decades as both a leader and a sideman, conguero Poncho Sanchez has stirred up a fiery stew of straight-ahead jazz, gritty soul, and infectious melodies and rhythms from both Latin America and South America. Whatever the genre, the mesmerizing array of sounds and colors from Sanchez's youth have telegraphed across the decades and continue to inform his music to this day.
